Discover the Story Behind Our Unique Art
Soundtrack to our Lives
Explore how a special birthday gift idea turned into a passion for creating personalised retro wall art.
The Inspiration
How It All Began
It all started with a friend’s 40th birthday.
Our friend loves gin and music, and as we’d already bought him every bottle of gin under the sun, we were now struggling to find the perfect birthday gift.
Over some wine, we came up with an idea of creating a unique piece of art that would resonate with his love for music.
The concept of personalised retro wall art was born from this desire to give a meaningful and memorable gift.
We sourced high-resolution images of blank audio cassettes and designed a 3×3 grid, adding a personalised message and his favourite tracks to each of the other tapes.
This thoughtful creation not only looked stunning but also held sentimental value, making it a perfect gift.
So much so, we had friends and family commission us to design a number of canvases for them!
This experience inspired us to start Soundtrack to Our Lives, where we now share this unique art form with others.
Crafting Your Unique Canvas
Our process begins with high-resolution images of vintage audio cassettes. We then design a custom grid layout, incorporating personalised labels that feature your chosen message and/or favourite tracks.
To add an interactive element, we create a playlist of the songs on the canvas and include a QR code in the design that links directly to the playlist.
This combination of visual and auditory nostalgia makes each piece a truly unique and personal work of art.
